Almost wordless Wens.

These are some sights we enjoy on our trip to and from Cortney's job.  This is on the back road home, it is a very peaceful drive and today was extra pleasurable with the blue sky and clouds.  Enjoy :o)

An old sod house. Sadly the back of the house has collapsed.

The outhouse, nestled among the red willows
The Beartooth Mountain range, you can see the local ski runs( click the photo and look to the right)

The road home, approximately 1/2 mile down and to the left *wink*

Enjoyed my ride. Sure is a lot of diverse land out there! mountains, almost dessert like, streams, woodsy areas, somewhat hilly...no...more sloping I guess. You have a lot of stuff to see in that 1/2 mile!! love to see the different surroundings. So different than here in WV...debbie

Debbie,
Yes, that is what makes Montana unique. The desert areas, are what we call dryland, that means, no irrigation is avaliable and in some of these areas neither are wells, you'd have to drill thousands of feet and still no guarantee of water. So if you live on this sort of land, most likely you haul water and if you wish to raise any amount of animals you need several hundred acres to graze them on.

The third photo is of the Clarks Fork River( it's frozen over right now)We live along this river.

The total mileage is approx. 8 miles to Charlie's house, but it is a pleasant drive. The last photo is of the road we live on,our place is just 1/2 up the road and to the left, right next to the river.

Glad you liked the drive*wink*

Redneck,
Even when roads are bad, we just take it slow and absorb it all in. Say, Thanks for stopping by, we've missed ya! If you'd someday like to drive it in person, you'd be welcome to vist and stay a spell.

Blessings,
Kelle

Wow what beautiful pictures. Makes me lonesome for MT. We have alot of beauty also but what just not the same.
Thanks for the memories. I remember when Mike and friends took horses across the Clarks Fork river down by Fort Rockvale then had to ride to Edgar because the girls were afraid to come back across the river. Little did I know that until later in life. Thats just living in the country.
We all need to make memories to share with each other. Miss you all

Alla,
Actually until about 2 pm our temp. was in the low 40'sF Today is a whol other story, a Canada clipper has moved down for a couple of days and today's high is 7F with the windchill it's approx. -20 to -30 F below. It's only supposed to last until Sat., then back into the mid 30'sF, so we can live with that without grumbling. It's snowed 4-5" of new snow and it's light anf fluffy, so causing all sorts of travel difficulties. The old saying is if you don't like the weather in MT wait 5 minutes, LOL!!!!

Nita,
Funny how those stories always sneek out long aftr it's happened*wink* Kind of like Mike stealing the ax when camping, but it was caught on film, so he was caught quicker than expected, LOL!!! Memories is what it is all about and as you know I'm deeply saddened by the loss of memories being made with Jon and his family*sigh*

Malay,
Hello and thanks for commenting, I see why you say it is different from your scenery. Your blog is lovely, we'll be visiting often. Thanks for stopping in and hope to see you again*wink*

Redgirl,
I know I was born 100+ yrs to late, but wouldn't trade Montana for anything. Even if the winters can be brutal, I just remind myself that it's only for a season( 2-3 months)*wink* Thanks for stopping in and commenting, we enjoy everyones comments so much. Took a quick look at your blog, we'll be back for future visits.

Hopeful, glad to see you stopped in, we've missed you too. How was your Christmas? Working on your garage still? I'll email ya soon.:o)

Blessings to you all and Happy New Year,
Kelle

There is nothing like our Big Sky state, and your photos show why, Kelle. I love your photos of the sod house. Whenever I see an old house or barn, I imagine who may have lived there long ago. Having grown up on an Iowa farm, I have missed living in the country, but Montana is a wonderful place to live, city or country. (And I live in a small town anyway!) This time of year, when the roads are snow-covered and slippery, I get a little housebound and I look forward to a drive, maybe to Red Lodge; in fact, I hope my husband and I can do that soon!

Happy New Year to you and your family!
Laurie

Laurie,
Glad you commented and I agree, I too get house bound but on weekends( when Mike's driving*wink*) we try to get out, even if it's just to Bridger or to visit a friend. I love to think of how the old homeplaces must have looked in their day and what the families were like. I think that sod house( rumor has it anyway) was build in the early 40's by migrant workers.
Sounds like you are closer to me than I thought, if you ever head toward Cody, WY we'd love to have you stop in for a visit. You can email me at kellemt@yahoo.com and we'll make sure we have a goodie, coffee and/ or hot tea waiting for you. :o)

Mark,
Thank you and praying the same for you as well. Thanks for stopping in :o)

Hi Kelle,
Just checking in. Thanks for sharing your photos. I wondered if you got the terrible storms ND is having, but looks like maybe not. We are thankful to have missed the brunt of it, but the windchills are terrible. I am always very concerned for the animals. And thanks for praying for Jonathan -- he is doing very well, and time now is the healing touch.

Kelle, be careful on the invite, we might just do it this summer.
