Finally! , it was clear back on Oct. 13th that I shared our secret.
This letter arrived on Wednesday, now talk about something to be thankful
for!
After waiting for 7 days for the holding company to wire transfer the funds to
the IRA company, then filling out all the necessary paperwork and faxing it
back to them and then waiting, waiting.... until we grew impatient after
two weeks and no word, Mike called. It seemed they had questions about
something on the faxed paperwork, and yet Mike told the lady that we faxed
a cover page with his cell# in case there were any questions. She explained
that the fax comes into one dept. then was sent to her dept and the cover
sheet was not forwarded*sigh* Mike answered her question and she said
it was off to the Distribution Dept. We wait yet another week, all the while
checking with our bank to see if the funds had been transferred. Mike calls
again asking to speak to the manager of the Distribution Dept., he is
then connected to a man, who looks up our information and then relays, it
takes 5-7 day once they receive the info for the wire transfer to be made.
Mike explains that it has been that long, the man says well your transfer
should be made tonight or tomorrow, now this call took place on a Tues.
So..... to make this short, it didn't happen for yet another week.

The first day Mike had available to make the trip into the city was Tues, Nov.
17th. After going to our bank and getting a cashier's check for the pay off
amount, we then head directly for the bank. Upon arriving, we of course are
excited, we ask where we need to go to pay off our mortgage. The
receptionist says, "Just go over to the teller window, they'll take care of it for
you." Not what we expected, thinking this is a fairly major transaction, we
thought we'd go to someone's office or something. Now at the teller window,
we explain what we're doing and the teller then calls a manager over, who
then takes us to his cubicle. He needs to verify the pay off amount and get a
certification #. Now back to the teller window, she makes the transaction,
using the cert. # and we're handed a slip, like a deposit or withdrawal slip,
showing the transaction amount toward loan #____________. The teller
did say Congratulations, but....... where was the confetti and balloons,LOL!
What is a major amount of $$ to us, I'm sure is just a drop in the bucket to a
bank such as Wells Fargo Bank.
Now with a hard copy( see picture below), showing our pay off is complete,
we absolutely feel relieved.

We've blocked out specific information, for obvious reasons. Now how about a
BBQ?

We're still stuffed from yesterdays meal. I asked Mike what he wanted for breakfast

this morning and he said,"Nothing I'm still full from our Thanksgiving meal." We

all made a point not to over eat, but we still did to some degree. The pumpkin pie

was the "straw that broke my stomach", but who can turn down homemade pumpkin

pie with whipped cream topping? We had a relaxed day, filled with our daily animal

chores, reading a book and even watching a football game( Dallas of course*wink*)

Mike has been a Cowboy's fan, well since I've known him, and Cortney joined in

the ranks a few years back. I'm not much of a T.V. person so..... I instead read my

book.

Well.... Cortney and I are on cleaning and re-arranging detail today and we also need

to move the mama turkey and her babies to the turkey pen and then sort out some

of the chickens and move to the smaller coop. Our main coop is overfull and we

separate them into two flocks, making room for everyone.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Happy Thanksgiving

Our day will be quiet, just Mike, Cortney and myself enjoying our homegrown, homemade dinner. One of the pitfalls of children growing up is that they have other obligations and invitations to holiday dinners. Jon, Bobbie and Jaymes will be having their Thanksgiving dinner with her family. They are helping Bobbie's Mom sheet rock her new addition and my folks have opted to go eat out.
Our menu will be lessened, as Mike and Cortney don't like dressing or sweet potatoes. The menu will consist of our tom turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, whole wheat rolls, sweet corn casserole, pistachio pudding salad, a relish tray with carrots, pickles, pickled beets and green beans and olives. We will be making the pies today( apple and traditional pumpkin) as well as the rolls. The turkey will have to be put in the wood cook stove oven by 8am to enjoy our dinner by 2:30-3pm. One thing is for sure we'll have plenty of leftover turkey, the tom is a BIG BOY! We love leftover turkey for sandwiches, casserole and of course soup with homemade noodles.

We don't typically venture out on Black Friday and Mike has to work, so Cortney and I will be re-arranging our living room, deep down cleaning as we go, in preparation for setting up our Christmas tree and decorations. Now begins the crunch in getting baking, candies and homemade gifts finished. We still need to make one more shopping trip to the city, to pick up odds and ends items for making our gifts, to purchase some stocking stuffer items and to stock back up on some needed items for our own use. That will be the last trip we'll make until well after the holiday frenzy is over.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving everyone!

URGENT! Please read the following and act quickly

Ronald Reagan On ObamaCare….

Almost 50 years ago, Ronald Reagan spoke about the evils of government-run health care under the banner of a campaign called Operation Coffee Cup.

Reagan said; "One of the traditional methods of imposing statism or socialism on a people has been by way of medicine."

Reagan described the movement to impose statism through health care as a "threat" that was "imminent."

Here's what Reagan said:

"The doctor begins to lose freedom.... First you decide that the doctor can have so many patients. They are equally divided among the various doctors by the government. But then doctors aren’t equally divided geographically. So a doctor decides he wants to practice in one town and the government has to say to him, you can't live in that town. They already have enough doctors. You have to go someplace else. And from here it's only a short step to dictating where he will go."

Reagan continued:

"All of us can see what happens once you establish the precedent that the government can determine a man's working place and his working methods, determine his employment. From here it's a short step to all the rest of socialism, to determining his pay. And pretty soon your son won't decide when he's in school, where he will go or what he will do for a living. He will wait for the government to tell him where he will go to work and what he will do."

Reagan closed by telling us the price of not taking action to stop this threat:

"And if you don't do this and if I don't do it, one of these days you and I are going to spend our sunset years telling our children, and our children's children, what it once was like in America when men were free."

Reagan had a talent for getting to the heart of the matter and his words are as true today as they were back then.

This so-called move to radically change our health care system by putting the federal government in charge has nothing to do with making health care more accessible, more available and more affordable.

It's more about the desire of politicians in Washington to impose greater centralized government control.

We can’t thank you enough for all you have done to defeat ObamaCare thus far. But all Americans must continue to make their voices heard against this government takeover of health care. We must continue to fight, or the result just may be telling our children and grandchildren "what it once was like in America when men were free."

Remember, the vote on the motion to proceed could take place mere hours from now. The time to act is now.

Send your urgent and personalized Faxes to each and every Republican Member of the United States Senate as well as Senators Blanche Lincoln, Joseph Lieberman, Ben Nelson and Mary Landrieu (key Democrat Senators who are sitting on the fence). Or alternately, you can send your urgent and personalized Blast Faxes to all 100 Members of the United States Senate... that's 100 Faxes.

Let them know that the American people will not be fooled or deceived. Let them know that you understand that a vote on the motion to proceed is a vote for ObamaCare… period.

Let's share our family holiday traditions!

I was pondering this morning about the upcoming holiday,Thanksgiving and all the many, many things we have to be thankful for. We of course will have all our family favorite foods: homegrown fresh turkey, homemade cornbread stuffing( with dried cranberries and walnuts), homemade 30 minute whole wheat rolls, mashed potatoes( grown here on the farm), gravy( from scratch), sweet potatoes( store bought), pistachio pudding salad, and a relish tray filled with fresh veggies and picked veggies from our farm. For dessert the family favorites; Apple pie and a Pumpkin pie( and again of course from scratch from farm produce)

Some of our other holiday family traditions are; No Christmas music can be played until after Thanksgiving, then that is all we play, we have quite a collection in which we add to each year. We have an Advent story we read each year, this keep our hearts and minds focused on the true meaning of the holiday. December 1st is the beginning of our baking frenzy, making one or two different types of holiday cookies and family favorite candies, everyday up to Christmas Eve. When the kids were young we almost always saved making and decorating the sugar and gingerbread cookies until Dec. 24 th. We also like to have friends over for a Christmas tea and cookies, last year it was hosted at our friends house, so this year it's back to us. We go caroling with a local church group in mid. Dec. The first weekend in Dec. we pick a tree( we do have a artificial one, but prefer fresh) and this year I'd like to add a new tradition, having Jon, Bobbie and our soon to be grandson, Jaymes, meet us to go cut a fresh tree, making an afternoon of it with a picnic style, provided it's not to cold for a picnic lunch. Then possibly decorate the tree together, enjoying hot cider, cocoa, coffee and of course sample some of the already made holiday goodies. We do decorate the house with a few simple handmade decorations, mostly candles and fresh greenery. Another traditional project we did with the kids when they were younger, to make an ornament for each of us, friends and family, this has fallen by the wayside, but with grandchildren I think it will have to make a comeback! During the course of Dec. we also work on finishing up gifts we are making, we buy very few gifts. It more fun to customize a homemade gift than to just buy something from the store, that anyone else could buy. We have our meal and open gifts on Christmas Eve with my folks and our kids. Christmas Day we stay home and enjoy any company that may stop in, grazing on leftovers and goodies.

We'd love to hear what your family traditions are, leave a comment and share a few.

When you love some animals and not others and chit, chat news

Okay, it's been a bit since the last blog. There is a good reason for that, really! I just don't have anything exciting to add to what has already been published on all the other wonderful blogs out here in blogger land.

We've actually be just relaxing and taking some recoup time. We did end up taking Mo back to the vet and getting the abscess lanced, so it would drain better. Which it has been doing, along with a daily flushing of a mixture of 3Tbsp. non iodized salt to a gallon of warm water with enough Providone Iodine added to look like a weak tea. This is then drawn up into a 60cc syringe and then pushed out into the wound as quickly as possible to give it the best flushing effect. It's been working and the swelling has gone down quite a bit.

When bringing Mo home from the vet we noticed a tree down along the bottom fence line and one ready to come down, thanks to a beaver. Yesterday, thankfully Cortney noticed, yet another tree down and this time it was laying on the fence. We quickly moved the cows to the back pasture, so there weren't any chances of them getting out where the fence was pushed down by the fallen tree. Thankfully the tree was small enough it just stretched the wires, not breaking any, although it did pull one post in a good amount. This weekend Mike will have to push the post back into place, brace it and tamp it in good again, then re -tighten the loosened wires. Today I'll be going to the local town fur trader to see if they can help us by getting a trapper interested in coming down and looking at our problem. Besides the beaver we also have a fox, who is now stalking poultry.
These are a few of the neighbors free range chickens, in our yard foraging, we don't mind. Guess what the fox has been seen in the middle of the day stealing one or two of their chickens, pretty sly or so this fox thinks. It seems that all the wildlife is becoming very well acclimated to being in residential areas. We have seen deer( of course by the droves), raccoon, skunk, beaver, fox, grizzly cub, black bear cub( neighbors got a picture), a young bull moose, hawks, Bald and Golden Eagles, owls and Red Headed Buzzards, ducks( many varieties), Canada geese, Swans, Pelicans, Whooping cranes, Blue Heron, Sand Hill Cranes and multitudes of various breeds of birds, to many to mention. I've also heard tell, that just a few miles as the crow flies, to the East of our place there have been wolves sighted. We do also have coyotes, although we've not seen them, we hear them and in winter they get bold and come in closer and closer. We not only hear them but many of the feral cats begin to disappear as well. Speaking of cats......
here is Callie recouping from the wee... few hours she braved the cold to hunt mice, now she's in her toasty, warm, cozy spot behind the wood stove.
Casino enjoying his new comfy, cushy new bed. Tuffy sleeps in his crate, it's his choice, and Mike took pity and bought him a dog pillow to place inside the crate for a softer bed than just an old blanket. Well.... you wouldn't think animals would get hurt feeling but Casino did. He pouted around for several days and even went in and tried to steal Tuffy's bed. Mike of course ordered a dog pillow for Casino, even though he already has a fake lambskin bed now! When Mike brought the new dog pillow in the house it was so...... funny he was whining, smiling and wiggling all over he just knew it was for him. Now he's a happy pillow dog! You ought to hear him moan when he finally gets laid down, it's like he's saying," Ahhhh, this is the life!" Mike says all the time and I agree, " There isn't an animals on this place that isn't spoiled plum rotten." The truth of the matter is that the animals and there needs come well before our own and isn't that the way it should be?

May your day be blessed.

Thank you for your years of service and sacrifice in protecting the USA

Today is one of the most important holidays on the calendar, IMHO. Please take the time to shake the hand of a veteran. Tell them what their service, to protect our freedom means to you.

Some of the local area restaurants are honoring our veterans with a free lunch. It makes me proud to see people are giving veterans the respect due them, they certainly have earned it.

Thank you for your years of service and sacrifice in protecting the United States of America!

"We the People", are coming

We the people are coming."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The following letter read on Glenn Beck's show, is rapidly circulating around the country. Americans everywhere identify with this 53-year-old woman. She has given us a voice. Once you read this, you will want to forward it to all of your friends...

GLENN BECK: I got a letter from a woman in Arizona . She writes an open letter to our nation's leadership:

"I am a home grown American citizen, 53, registered Democrat all my life. Before the last presidential election I registered as a Republican because I no longer felt the Democratic Party represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me. Now I no longer feel the Republican Party represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me. The fact is I no longer feel any political party or representative in Washington represents my views or works to pursue the issues important to me. Instead, we are burdened with Congressional Dukes and Duchesses who think they know better than the citizens they are supposed to represent.

There must be someone. Please tell me who you are. Please stand up and tell me that you are there and that you're willing to fight for our Constitution as it was written. Please stand up now.
You might ask yourself what my views and issues are that I would feel so horribly disenfranchised by both major political parties. What kind of nut-job am I? Well, these briefly are the views and issues for which I seek representation:

One, illegal immigration. I want you to stop coddling illegal immigrants and secure our borders. Close the underground tunnels. Stop the violence and the trafficking in drugs and people. No amnesty, not again. Been there, done that, no resolution. P.S., I'm not a racist. This is not to be confused with legal immigration.

Two, the STIMULUS bill. I want it repealed and I want no further funding supplied to it. We told you No, but you did it anyway. I want the remaining unfunded 95% repealed. Freeze, repeal.

Three: Czars. I want the circumvention of our constitutional checks and balances stopped immediately. Fire the czars. No more czars. Government officials answer to the process, not to the president. Stop trampling on our Constitution, and honor it.

Four, cap and trade. The debate on global warming is not over. There are many conflicting opinions and it is too soon for this radical legislation. Quit throwing our nation into politically-correct quicksand.

Five, universal healthcare. I will not be rushed into another expensive decision that will burden me, my children, and grandchildren. Don't you dare try to pass this in the middle of the night without even reading it. Slow down! Fix only what is broken -- we have the best health care system in the world -- and test any new program in one or two states first.

Six, growing government control. I want states rights and sovereignty fully restored. I want less government in my life, not more. More is not better! Shrink it down. Mind your own business. You have enough to take care of with your real [Constitutional] obligations. Why don't you start there.

Seven, ACORN. I do not want ACORN and its affiliates in charge of our 2010 census. I want them investigated. I also do not want mandatory escrow fees contributed to them every time on every real estate deal that closes -- how did they pull that one off? Stop the funding to ACORN and its affiliates pending impartial audits and investigations. I do not trust them with taking the census with our taxpayer money. I don't trust them with any of our taxpayer money. Face up to the allegations against them and get it resolved before taxpayers get any more involved with them. If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, hello. Stop protecting your political buddies. You work for us, the people. Investigate.

Eight, redistribution of wealth. No, no, no. I work for my money. It is mine. I have always worked for people with more money than I have because they gave me jobs -- and that is the only redistribution of wealth that I will support. I never got a job from a poor person! Why do you want me to hate my employers? And what do you have against shareholders making a profit?

Nine, charitable contributions.. Although I never got a job from a poor person, I have helped many in need. Charity belongs in our local communities, where we know our needs best and can use our local talent and our local resources. Butt out, please. We want to do it ourselves.

Ten, corporate bailouts. Knock it off. Every company must sink or swim like the rest of us. If there are hard times ahead, we'll be better off just getting into it and letting the strong survive. Quick and painful. (Have you ever ripped off a Band-Aid?) We will pull together.. Great things happen in America under great hardship. Give us the chance to innovate. We cannot disappoint you more than you have disappointed us.

Eleven, transparency and accountability. How about it? No, really, how about it? Let's have it. Let's say we give the buzzwords a rest and have some straight honest talk. Please stop trying to manipulate and appease me with clever wording. I am not the idiot you obviously take me for. Stop sneaking around and meeting in back rooms making deals with your friends. It will only be a prelude to your criminal investigation. Stop hiding things from me.

Twelve, unprecedented quick spending. Stop it now.
Take a breath. Listen to the people. Slow down and get some input from non-politicians and experts on the subject. Stop making everything an emergency. Stop speed-reading our bills into law. I am not an activist. I am not a community organizer. Nor am I a terrorist, a militant or a violent person. I am a parent and a grandparent. I work. I'm busy. I am busy, and I am tired. I thought we elected competent people to take care of the business of government so that we could work, raise our families, pay our bills, have a little recreation, complain about taxes, endure our hardships, pursue our personal goals, cut our lawn, wash our cars on the weekends and be responsible contributing members of society and teach our children to be the same all while living in the home of the free and land of the brave.

I entrusted you with upholding the Constitution. I believed in the checks and balances to keep from getting far off course. What happened? You are very far off course. Do you really think I find humor in the hiring of a speed reader to unintelligently ramble all through a bill that you signed into law without knowing what it contained? I do not.

It is a mockery of the responsibility I have entrusted to you. It is a slap in the face. I am not laughing at your arrogance. Why is it that I feel as if you would not trust me to make a single decision about my own life and how I would live it but you should expect that I should trust you with the debt that you have laid on all of us and our children. We did not want the TARP bill. We said no. We would repeal it if we could. I am sure that we still cannot. There is needless urgency and recklessness in all of your recent spending of our tax dollars.

From my perspective, it seems that all of you have gone insane. I also know that I am far from alone in these feelings. Do you honestly feel that your current pursuits have merit to patriotic Americans? We want it to stop. We want to put the brakes on everything that is being rushed by us and forced upon us. We want our voice back.. You have forced us to put our lives on hold to straighten out the mess that you are making. We will have to give up our vacations, our time spent with our children, any relaxation time we may have had and money we cannot afford to spend on bringing our concerns to Washington . Our president often knows all the right buzzwords like unsustainable. Well, no kidding. How many tens of thousands of dollars did the focus group cost to come up with that word? We don't want your overpriced words. Stop treating us like we're morons.

We want all of you to stop focusing on your reelection and do the job we want done, not the job you want done or the job your party wants done. You work for us and at this rate I guarantee you not for long because we are coming. We will be heard and we will be represented.. You think we're so busy with our lives that we will never come for you? We are the formerly silent majority, all of us who quietly work, pay taxes, obey the law, vote, save money, keep our noses to the grindstone... and we are now looking at you.

You have awakened us, the patriotic freedom spirit so strong and so powerful that it had been sleeping too long. You have pushed us too far. Our numbers are great. They may surprise you. For every one of us who will be there, there will be hundreds more that could not come. Unlike you, we have their trust. We will represent them honestly, rest assured. They will be at the polls on voting day to usher you out of office.
We have canceled vacations. We will use our last few dollars saved. We will find the representation among us and a grassroots campaign will flourish. We didn't ask for this fight. But the gloves are coming off. We do not come in violence, but we are angry. You will represent us or you will be replaced with someone who will. There are candidates among us who will rise like a Phoenix from the ashes that you have made of our constitution.

Democrat, Republican, independent, libertarian. Understand this. We don't care. Political parties are meaningless to us Patriotic Americans are willing to do right by us and our Constitution, and that is all that matters to us now. We are going to fire all of you who abuse power and seek more. It is not your power. It is ours and we want it back. We entrusted you with it and you abused it. You are dishonorable. You are dishonest. As Americans we are ashamed of you. You have brought shame to us. If you are not representing the wants and needs of your constituency loudly and consistently, in spite of the objections of your party, you will be fired. Did you hear? We no longer care about your political parties. You need to be loyal to us, not to them.. Because we will get you fired and they will not save you.

If you do or can represent me, my issues, my views, please stand up. Make your identity known. You need to make some noise about it. Speak up. I need to know who you are. If you do not speak up, you will be herded out with the rest of the sheep and we will replace the whole damn congress if need be one by one. We are coming. Are we coming for you? Who do you represent? What do you represent? Listen. Because we are coming. We the people are coming."

It is incredible how as soon as a people becomes subject, it promptly falls into such complete forgetfulness of its freedom that it can hardly be roused to the point of regaining it, obeying so easily and willingly that one is led to say...that this people has not so much lost its liberty as won its enslavement.—Etienne de la Boetie

I found this today on a forum I visit. It's appropriate don't you think?

NOW is the time to remember, not to fall in forgetfulness. It is of the utmost importance to be vigilant in letting our leaders know that all the bills, they are bringing to life, WILL be their demise from office. Their next election period, they NEED to be voted out. They obviously aren't listening to "WE THE PEOPLE" and are instead pursuing their own selfish agendas. In the next election it is our God given right to make our voices heard.

It seems that I'm not the only one with this on their heart. Please visit Thistle Cove Farm; http://thistlecovefarm.blogspot.com/2009/11/politics-bend-over-please.html and read what is on their hearts.

Pulling out, dusting off and trying to recall...

the plan again. I cut and pieced these together 4 yrs. ago, with the intention of making it into a "Roman"(style) window quilt for our big picture window in the living room. These are the only four I have pieced, but there will be three different patterns( two represented in above photo) With canning almost completed, I'm looking for projects to start on. Cortney and I will be working on various Christmas projects, but those we work on in the evenings. I'm looking at all the pieces and trying to rack my brain to what the plan was? Oh well, we'll make a new plan, possibly it will be better! These squares will still be make into a "Roman" style window quilt, just the design will be a bit different as I've found some new inspiration in a few quilt books.

Now all you quilters out there looking at my squares, they are far from perfect and I'm only a beginning quilter, learning EVERYTHING I know from books. I have made a connection with an area quilter and she's more than willing to help me in my journey, PTL! I have two quilt frames, one smaller and one large enough to do a King sized quilt, but it would be nice to get a tutorial on how to actually use one*wink* I've made a couple table runners and a baby quilt and I feel they turned out quite nice, for someone with no formal training. I do machine piece, but I'm a stickler for staying with the tradition of hand quilting. My Grandma, ( my Dad's mom) has made many a quilt, not all of them beautiful like the ones you see on display at fairs and such, but quilts that are made from scraps, tops pieced by my Great Grandma( her mother) from clothes and odd pieces of fabric. I was blessed to receive one of these quilts, it's truly a keepsake and my Grandma signed it, "pieced by Great Grandma H. and quilted by Grandma L.

Last summer I was blessed again with a beautiful quilt she made from cross stitch squares, we'd given her for Christmas a few years before. I need to let you in on something, my Grandma is going to be 94 yrs. old and she hand quilted this quilt alittle over a year ago. I don't believe she's quilting any longer, as her eye sight is not good, but she still cross stitches tea towels and pillow cases and has delved into drawing and painting, in which she is unsurprisingly quite gifted at. I'll have to see if I can copy some of her art work and post it here for you to see and I'll get a picture of the quilt she gifted me with last summer as well.

Not much else new going on, just doctoring Mo, daily chores, some yard and flower garden clean up, odds and ends canning( we're about out of jars; we have a dozen pints and half dozen quarts and a dozen or so jelly jars) and planning our winter, so no time is wasted. Of course we are planing to rest a bit too*wink*

Blessings for your weekend.

Warning, graphic photo of Mo's swollen.......

but first just couldn't pass up this photo of Callie, all nestled in one of our wool blankets. It hasn't really been cold enough to warrant a fire in the wood cook stove, so instead we all wrap up in our wool blankets. This includes the spoiled cat!

This is Mo's sheath, the green salve is a poultice for drawing out infection. You can see some of the drainage on the backside of the sheath. This swelling is about 100% less than before the abscess ruptured, poor Mo!Okay after a visit to the vet clinic two weeks ago, a series of antibiotics( IM shot and a sulfur powder in his feed, twice daily for 7 days) still Mo's sheath was swollen, hard and very tender. The vet came to the farm on Friday and said it looked as if it was going to abscess, poor, poor Mo! We hot packed the area three times daily, beginning on Friday afternoon. After the hot pack treatments, we applied an Epsom Salt Poultice( it's the green salve in the above picture), to help draw the infection out. Mo was very patient with me, that is until Monday afternoon, he still didn't do anything to hurt me, just stood with his hind leg held way up and kept looking back at me, as if to say, " WOWIE, now that hurts, please stop!"

We had a call into the vet early Monday morning but didn't get a return call, so I called again early afternoon, and was told the vet was out on an emergency and they'd call. By 4:30 pm and still no call, I called again, the vet tech scheduled us to bring Mo in at 8:15 am. Tues.

We feed at 6 am, both Mike and I were interesting in seeing how Mo was acting, because the previous day he was in pain and not moving around much. Mike looked and said it had ruptured by itself and there was some nasty, smelly white liquid oozing out. He was still moving pretty gingerly, but his eyes were brighter. I called the vet to let them know it had ruptured and was draining, so they wouldn't need to lance it.

I do have to say, I was disappointed in the vet, we arrived on time and expected the vet to look at the abscess site, clean it and give instruction to caring for this until it's healed. The ruptured spot is the size of a quarter and oozing infection, which is what we want. Instead she looked at the area, massaged out some puss and gave us some antibiotic powder( same kind he was on the first time) and the bill. She never washed or cleaned the site. I asked if we should continue hot packing or at least using the poultice, she said it wasn't needed. I then asked about keeping the area clean until healed, she said she wouldn't worry about it. Yeah! right, does she think we're stupid! Since when, do you not clean a wound that has staph infection, or not try to keep it clean. So..... today I washed the abscessed area with a mild antiseptic soap water, also between his legs, which was matted with dried puss and blood. Then patted it dry with sterile gauze, then swabbed the wound and surrounding area with Providine Iodine. Then away from the wound area, I gently massaged in some Epsom Salt Poultice. I checked him several hours later and the wound is draining nicely and the swelling is decreasing. This will be our routine until all the swelling is gone and the wound is healing.

Besides dealing with Mo, we've been busy trying to get regular chores done and then squeeze into the schedule any and all extras we can. We cleaned house, literally, dusting, washing floors, cleaning bathroom, vacuuming, etc..... I found out just how dirty our windows, windowsills and baseboards really are so.... will work on getting those all washed and some touch up sanding and painting done.

Sunday Mike was going to replace seals in the faucets for the tub, because they are allowing the water to drip and it was getting worse with time. When taking the faucet handles off,he decided they were very built up with hard water and not in good shape. We've been trying to baby this bathroom along, as it's slated for a total remodel, including tearing out walls, the floor and replacing the entire sewer line from the house to the mainline. So... off we go to the hardware store for new parts. By the time you buy all the new parts, you'd have more invested than if you simply bought a whole new tub faucet set, which we did for $47. If we'd bought the parts we'd have needed, the cost would have been $59! They are all replaced and look wonderful, sad thing is they won't be transferred to the new bathroom, but will save us in water loss from dripping. Our plan is to put in a claw foot tub with period replica fixtures including a shower and shower ring.

Well..., it's late and I need to clean up supper dishes and get leftovers in the refrigerator. Supper tonight was; pork chops, fried onions and potatoes, and sweetcorn.

Blessings for the remainder of the week.
