We wanted to share some of our favorite Christmas goodie recipes that we posted last Dec. here and here .  We're busy trying to get some of our Christmas crafts started and now finished in time, the clock is ticking you know!

When thinking of items, we always take into account what we have on hand, before buying anything. Well.... while in the library the other day I found this book ;  Since we have dried gourd just hanging around, I thought I'd look into it. I was amazed at the ideas and projects they had inside. I'm only sharing one picture of ornaments made with gourds, the rest of the pictures will come from our projects so we don't get into a copyright hassle.  ( see ornaments below)

We're also working on several other crafts and ideas , which we'll share as soon as we get each item completed.

We need more hours in a day, the time just seems to fly right by and before we know it it's time for bed again*sigh*

May your days coming to Christmas be blessed and stress free! *wink*

I know what you mean, we have been making our gifts for the last 4 years. Since I crochet a lot of them. I have to keep a close eye on the calendar to keep from staying up around the clock to finish at the last minute.

the gourd idea is great! what nice gifts. homemade gifts are so much better than bought ones. hope you can slow down soon. i've been set back with the workshop job, but since i got a good early start with Christmas, i'm not terribly behind. whoo hoo! have a good friday!!

Our neighbors gave us a dried gourd about a year ago, we tried to make a birdhouse out of it.
When you say "We" wanted to share some recipes, and "We're" doing our Christmas crafts, I can't help but wonder if you are torturing that poor husband of yours! Maybe he'd rather be out in the toolshed, smoking a Cuban Cigar????

Kids with canningjars,
We can't wait to see either, we'll be working on them this weekend. I'm up for a good challenge*wink*

Kat,
Thanks I just pray we have something wonderful to share and that they don't fall apart.

GW,
Me either, I love creating things and so does Cortney. We made mittens yesterday, a new and cheater way*wink* I'll share pictures, maybe today.

Alla,
Cortney and I make ornaments every year, for family, friends and ourselves, it's a tradition of sorts. It's always hard to think of something new, that we haven't already done in the last 20+ yrs( started this when the kids were babes) I'm excited to see how they turn out and then we'll paint and varnish them, some we'll leave natural, just clear varnish them to help preserve them. :o)

There's Just Life,
I hear you, we try to get started by end of Sept. This year the time just slipped away from us and so we're off to a late start but we're feeling good about how quickly our projects are coming along*wink*
I, myself, prefer a homemade gift, verses store bought but some people don't feel the same way and men for some reason are hard to craft items for( or at least that's how I feel) Thanks for commenting :o)

Hopeful, we have slowed down, from our Spring, Summer and Fall schedule and once the holidays are over we plan to take a mini vacation, just sort of veg out, read the piles of books and magazines we have in stacks for winter slow down. I don't want to get to lazy though, because I am trying to maintain my weight and continue loosing some and stay in shape so next Spring I'm not so out of sorts( with my back in particular)*wink*
Thanks for stopping in to chat.

MarkD60,
You said, we tried to make a bird house out of it, does that mean it wasn't a success?
When I say "We" or We're" most of the time I'm refering to my daughter, Cortney and myself. My Dh, Mike works an outside job( for a few more years)and so he isn't being tortured or overworked here*wink* In fact quite to the contrary, Cortney and I try to do everything we possible can so he can come home and rest up on the weekends. He is our official taste tester, and now that he's lost the weight he wanted, is probably is a bit of torture to limit himself, LOL!!! He'd take you up on the cigar though, he likes them*wink*

Thank you all for your comments, and we'll share our success and failures with the gourds, keep your fingures crossed and say a prayer for me I don't have a lot of patience, LOL!!!
Blessings,
Kelle

I look forward to seeing what you make. I LOVE playing with gourds. Cutting, wood burning, adding color, adding other things. So much fun. I have been trying to get our screen porch cleaned out so I have a space to work on gourds. I hope to get back to growing more gourds next year. Have fun playing with your gourds. Sincerely, Emily
