We'd been watching to forecast and last night was only supposed to be down as low as 45F, guess who got fooled. It's always a bit of a sad moment because it makes everything so final and yet in some ways it's a relief too.
Pumpkins( Cinderella) will be harvested and hardened off for cellar storage.
This front garden wasn't hit so hard, the house must have provided some protection, but I'm sure the zucchini are finished.
There is always something to smile about as we begin the next phase of the season and we have plenty of sunflowers for our birds for the winter.
The greenhouse crops are protected and still going strong, should be well into early Nov., provided we don't see an early cold winter.
Our Irish Dexter heifer and our Angus steer, enjoying the cooler temperatures.
Molly our semi tame barn cat. She watched and observes us and is so close to being friendly, she truly wants to be friends.
First leaves are changing, sure sign of Fall's approach, let's pray for an Indian summer, I'm NOT ready for winter yet.
I'm not a fan of spiders but these spiders are great bug hunters so they earn the right to stay in the garden. We have probably a dozen or so throughout the gardens.
The raspberries are still going strong and we're harvesting almost 2 qts daily.
This is our new experimental crop, Burgundy amaranth. It's our hope to use it for dye to dye some of Cortney's fleeces( from her own sheep)
Almost ready for harvest( concord grapes), they need a kiss of frost, possibly tonight will do the trick and then we;ll harvest and make jam/jelly. I can this jam/jelly in pint jars, the small jelly jars just don't last more than a few meals around here*wink*

We are 32.5 this morning, and I've yet to check our pumpkins.
I was hoping to get a couple more weeks growth from them.
The rest of the gardens are put to bed, and the harvest is all stored.

Hello! It looks like it is turning into Fall around your home. The sunflowers are beautiful! Our leaves are changing in the mountains, and are just beginning to down here in the valley. That garden spider is incredible!!! And how lucky you are to have so many beautiful yummy raspberries! :) Have a blessed rest of the week!

Thank you for your comment, we love chatting! If you don't mind where are you located, we've been to your blog but never looked to see where you are? Actually last night was supposed to be the big freeze night and yet it didn't do any more damage than the evening before. I did however get the outside tomaotes and cantaloupe covered just in case!
Fall is my favorite time of the year, we are so blessed with the colors and the cooler temps and getting things wrapped up for winter, which is our slower season. Hope you're pumpkins keep growing for you, saw them on your blog, they look great! Take care and enjoy the blessing that come each day :o)

Good to hear from you, I know, it's me who owes the letter :o( Life's been full to overflowing and I know you understand that*wink* The spiders are awesome as long as they stay outside, LOL! The raspberries are such a gift, we try to make sure we take advantage of them all! Praying our strawberries will do better next summer, it was so hot and dry this year, they just sort of sat, stunted or something, even with us watering them*sigh*

Ah, the end of summer. I'm actually looking forward to some cooler weather, but it is very sad to see the end of the growing season, too. Your Molly looks very much like a Major White Calico cat we once had.
It is still fairly warm here in Georgia down in the low 60's at night. We have sweet potato's still in the ground and the jack beans are still climbing. I just planted garlic yesterday and the broccoli is still small. We won't get our first frost until some time in November. The peppers are still multiplying, I have so many next year only 2 of each not 4 of each. I really like seeing your pictures and reading the blog. Ellen from Georgia

Good to hear from you! :o) I too am enjoying the coller days, we've had a miserable hot summer and drought. Praying for some rain, we truly NEED it! Molly was the last of the four barn cats we inherited from the moving neighbors to tame down. She still is shy and standoffish but loved to be pet when she finally works up the nerve to come close enough to us :o) Thanks for stopping by and chatting

Welcome and Thank you for stopping in to chat, we really miss that part the most when it comes to blogging :o) We'll be planting garlic this week, then mulch heavy to overwinter for early summer harvest. The beans didn't get bit to hard, so we'll kee watering and harvesting as long as we can. I've always wondered about multiple growing season but you know I like our seasons here in MT and with our greenhouse we get an earlier start and a longer growing season, so by the time it's over we're ready for it to be over*wink* Good luck on yur harvests and garden and Thanks for stopping in, we truly love it!

Hey it was down to 31F last night and today's high was only 62F. One thing about MT is the weather changes are almost sever between seasons, I guess you get used to it and anticipate it*wink* I was alittle slow on the draw this season, LOL!!!
