If you don't like the weather in Montana....

Time to begin collecting runoff water again. We have four oak
barrels that we fill with runoff as needed.
Keep in mind that our temps is well into the 40'sF, so a lot
of the first snow melted as soon as it hit the ground. If I had to guess
we probably received around 4" of snow. We'll wait to see how much
moisture this gave us, but I'm betting it's good! :o)

What a blessing it is to have gotten all that pasture seed spread
yesterday. We re -seeded the bottom portion of our front pasture, as
we've had a problem with weeds and cheat grass in this area and pray
with a high germination that the new grasses choke out these problem
weeds. This, hand pulling( annual weeds) and digging( perennial
weeds) got our back pasture and upper portion of the front pasture
almost entirely weed free, and without chemicals! Truth be know we
purposely left some weeds along the fenceline. Why you ask?
They are actually herbs, good for our animals diets, the cows and horse
search them out.

Found you via HomemakerAng today....whereabouts in Montana are you? I was just in Bozeman for 9 days last week, visiting our brand new granddaughter! So beautiful there, right next to Bridger Mountains.

Hey! Glad you found us Farmgirl and welcome.
Your brand new granddaughter, is she your first grandchild?

We live just southwest of Billings and Bozeman is just about a 1-1/2 hour drive from here.

Hope to see you here more often, and always feel free to comment, ask questions or share, you see I'm still learning. You are never to old to stop learning, even if I did find that I have many, many grey hairs this past week, LOL!!!!
Blessings,
Kelle

Montana is so beautiful. If we hadn't found this little piece of heaven in North-eastern Oregon we would have head up to Montana next.
Looks like we have about the same weather.

Slaterlife,
We feel it's as close to heaven as we can get without really going. Today we had sunshine and well into the mid 50'sF. I'm afraid it's still like a yo-yo here. I taked to a framer and he said Farmer's Almanac said this sort of weather( snow and rain mix and a few days of sun, the repeat) are forecasted for the next 60 days.

I won't complain if we get some sunshine in between snow/rain. It's going to make it a challenge for the farmers and even for us to get out garden planted.

Hey are you anywhere near Madras, OR? This is where the Small Farmer's journal auction and swap is held, at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds, April 17-19th. We dream of going someday, it would be such fun to see all the wagons, horses and equipment. Talking to the people would eb great as well. Still a dream at this point, but a good one!
Blessings,
Kelle
